Eligibility

TRICARE is a health care program. It isn’t an agency and it doesn’t determine eligibility. The sponsor’s uniformed service decides who is eligible for TRICARE and reports it in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System. 

Types of Beneficiaries

1. Sponsors: Active duty, retired, and National Guard and Reserve members
2. Family members: Spouses and children who are registered in DEERS
