If you can, visit the pharmacy where you originally filled the prescription.
If you use a retail chain, you can fill your prescription at another store in that chain.
If your provider is able, he or she may call in a new prescription to any network pharmacy.
You can ask for help at another pharmacy. But it's at that pharmacy's discretion to help you.
Primary Care Manager Referral Waivers
If you're displaced during a disaster, you might not be able to get to your primary care manager if you need a referral for care.
If a referral waiver is in place, you may not have to get a referral from your PCM to see a TRICARE-authorized provider. The disaster alert will include which areas are in the waiver and other instructions.
Preparing for a Natural Disaster
Plan a safe evacuation route and identify a safe shelter space. If you’re evacuating, take these items with you in waterproof containers:
Uniformed Services ID card
Medicare card
Other health insurance card (if you have OHI)
Driver’s license
Social Security card
Checkbook, credit card, cash
Prescription containers (preferred) or a list of medications with names, doses, and frequencies
Important phone numbers
Any important medical or military information and documents
Immunization records
First aid kit
Here are a few items to think about after a crisis. These will help to make sure your healthcare needs are met.
Check your ID card: You must have a valid Uniformed Services ID card to get care or have prescriptions filled. If you lost your ID card, visit the nearest ID card office to get a new ID card.
File claims: If you paid out of pocket for care during a time of crisis, you may need to file your own healthcare claims with TRICARE for reimbursement.
Keep copies of your medical records: Keep any personal copies of your and your family’s medical records from any care you received during a crisis. This helps any new providers understand your healthcare needs.
Transfer your enrollment if you move: If you move after an evacuation, you should update your address in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and find a new provider if needed. You have 90 days from the date of your address to change your health plan if needed.
Follow appropriate referral and authorization procedures: After a primary care manager referral waiver ends, you must follow the usual referral and authorization rules for your TRICARE plan.
