Pulmonary Rehabilitation
TRICARE may cover pulmonary services when provided as part of an inpatient or outpatient treatment program. To be covered, the pulmonary services must be proven as effective.
Examples of proven indications are:
- Cardiopulmonary or pulmonary rehabilitation for pre- and post-lung transplant patients; pre-authorization required
- Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), on an inpatient basis
- Moderate and severe COPD, on an outpatient basis
Costs differ based on whether services are provided on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
