What If I Need an Organ or Stem Cell Transplant?

You'll work with case managers who have training in transplants. They'll help you and your doctor during the evaluation, transplant, and recovery stages.

What Kind of Doctors Will I See?

You can use Humana’s National Transplant Network; it’s a system of stem cell and organ transplant centers across the country. This network has Medicare-certified facilities that meet quality standards and TRICARE rules. The system includes facilities that manage cardiac mechanical devices; immune-effector cellular therapy; and gene therapy.

What Happens During a Transplant Evaluation?

Your healthcare team will assess and perform tests on your heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, mental health, social support, nutrition, and medications. They'll determine if a transplant is appropriate and safe for you.

Is Financial Support Available?

If you have TRICARE Prime and must travel more than 100 miles from your primary care manager’s office, you have a travel benefit that may provide reimbursement for gas, mileage, lodging, and meals. Speak with a transplant case manager for details.
