How to Make a Payment by Phone

To make a payment by phone using the automated system, follow these steps:

  1. Call 888-TRIWEST (874-9378)
    • Listen to the greeting and select your preferred language.
  2. Verify your identity.
    • When prompted, say "beneficiary".
    • Verify your identity in any one of three ways:
      • Enter your DoD ID + the last 4 numbers of your Social Security number.
      • Enter your 11-digit DOD benefits number (DBN) (found on the back of your ID) + the last 4 numbers of your Social Security number.
      • Enter your full Social Security number and your date of birth. Date of birth must be in Month, Date, Year order. For example, enter 02251975 for a birthday on Feb. 25, 1975.
  3. Make a payment.
    • When prompted, say “payment,” “pay,” or “premium payment”. You will be connected to the automated phone payment system.
    • You'll then hear what payment is due and the due date.
    • Make a one-time payment or set up recurring payments.
    • Select your preferred payment option for your bank account, credit, or debit card.
      • For bank account payments, enter your bank routing number and your checking account number.
      • For credit or debit card payments, you must enter your card number and expiration date. Discover, Visa, or MasterCard are accepted.
    • Once your payment is made, you will receive a payment confirmation number. Please keep this for your records.
  4. Make an additional payment.
    • You'll also be able to make a payment for a family member.
    • When prompted, say "next plan".
    • Have the 11-digit DBN for the next beneficiary available.
    • Continue to follow the prompts.
