TRICARE covers sacral nerve stimulation for fecal urinary incontinence.

For Fecal Incontinence

TRICARE covers sacral nerve stimulation for patients who have:

  • Failed previous conservative treatment or who aren’t candidates for more conservative treatment, and
  • A weak but intact anal sphincter that isn’t responding to conservative treatment

For Urinary Incontinence

TRICARE covers services and supplies related to sacral nerve root stimulation for patients who have:

  • Failed previous conservative treatments,
  • Had a successful peripheral nerve evaluation test, and
  • Experienced:
    • Urge incontinence
    • Nonobstructive urinary retention, or
    • Symptoms of urgency-frequency syndrome that isn’t due to a neurologic condition
