TRICARE Young Adult

TRICARE Young Adult is a premium-based health care plan that eligible adult children can purchase. If you're eligible, you have four ways to purchase TYA:

Online

Go to the milConnect website and click on the “Benefits” tab, and then click on “Beneficiary Web Enrollment.”
By Phone

Call your regional contractor to enroll and set up your payment:

  • East: 800-444-5445
  • West: 888-TRIWEST (874-9378)
  • US Family Health Plan: Visit USFHP.
  • Overseas: Call your regional call center and select option 4. Please note the following when enrolling overseas:
    • TYA-Prime is limited to command-sponsored active duty family members.
      • To show command sponsorship, you need the sponsor's order number and date on the orders.
    • If enrolling in TYA-Select, please enroll by fax or mail.
By Fax or Mail

Download the TYA application (DD Form 2947) for your region:

Mail or fax it with your initial two-month premium payment to your regional contractor or USFHP provider, whichever applies.

  • Mailing addresses and fax numbers are found on the form.
  • Make checks or money orders for the initial premium payable to your regional contractor or USFHP provider.
 Using TYA-Prime or TYA-Select

Follow the guidelines below when completing the form if you fax or mail your application:

  • Choose "TRICARE Select" to use TYA-Select. This includes family members of sponsors enrolled in TRICARE Reserve Select and TRICARE Retired Reserve.
  • Choose "TRICARE Prime" to use TYA-Prime. Only active duty family members can choose TYA-Prime in remote areas.
  • Choose "TRICARE Overseas Prime" to use TYA-Prime in all overseas areas (remote or non-remote). Only command-sponsored children of active duty service members can select this box.
  • Choose "US Family Health Plan" to choose the USFHP as your TYA-Prime; only available in six geographic areas. 

Getting Started With TYA

You'll be notified by your regional contractor when your enrollment is processed. Once enrolled, you can log in to milConnect to download your enrollment card.

Important milConnect Update

myAuth is replacing DS Logon for milConnect access. Learn more about the myAuth transition.

Attention TRICARE Users: myAuth will roll out in phases. This began with milConnect and ID Card Office Online on May 21. Over time, all DOD applications that use DS Logon will transition to myAuth.
