Line of Duty Care

You may qualify for line of duty care if you incur or aggravate an injury, illness, or disease while on a period of orders 30 days or less.

The line of duty includes:

  • Active Duty Training (ADT),
  • Inactive Duty Training (IDT),
  • Drill weekend, or
  • Any other training while on orders 30 days or less.

It also includes the time when you are traveling directly to or from your place of duty, as well as overnight stays in support of orders.

An approved LOD/Notice of Eligibility (NOE) determination means you can get health care at the government’s expense. It confirms you’re eligible for follow-on care for the service-related injury or illness after your orders (30 days or less) expire.
