Medication Assisted Treatment
You may qualify for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) if you have a substance use disorder. MAT:- Combines drug and mental health therapies
- Is covered when the TRICARE authorized provider has a special certification from the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe buprenorphine (e.g., suboxone)
Opioid Treatment Program
You may qualify if you:
- Have an opioid use disorder
- Require medically monitored detoxification with direct access to medical services
- Need medical support, but not a 24-hour medical environment
The provider must adhere to regulations from:
- Department of Health and Human Services
- Drug Enforcement Agency
- State and local governments
