Body Measurement

TRICARE covers:

  • For infants:
    • Head circumference should be measured through 24 months.
  • For children and adolescents:      
    • Height and weight should be measured at each primary care visit.
    • Body mass index is measured using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention BMI Charts. Those with a BMI greater than the 85th percentile typically receive nutritional and physical activity counseling as part of the primary care visit.
  • For adults: 
    • Height and weight should be measured at each primary care visit.
    • Adults with a BMI of 25 or above typically receive nutritional and physical activity counseling as part of the primary care visit.
