If you have an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

For routine care, make an appointment directly with your primary care manager in the clinic where you’re enrolled. For example, if you’re enrolled at the Fairfax Clinic, call them directly to book a primary care appointment or walk-in for urgent care. If you need to see a specialist, your PCM will give you a referral and instructions on what to do next.

If you need urgent care – for something not life-threatening, but you need to be seen right away -- call the MHS Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE. Some of our facilities also offer walk-in urgent care clinics and same-day appointments.

We have a single appointment line, the Integrated Referral Management and Appointing Center – or IRMAC – in the National Capital Region. Call 1-855-227-6331 to make an appointment. If you’re making a specialty care appointment, you may be offered appointments at any facility in the National Capital Region—you’re not limited to only where you’re enrolled.

Some of our facilities may offer appointments online through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. Be sure to register so you can make appointments where available, see your health information and communicate securely with your health care team.

If not already enrolled, you may need to wait until the next TRICARE Open Season. But, if you’ve just moved to the area or if you experience another qualifying life event, you can contact Humana Military, the TRICARE East Regional Contractor to enroll within 90 days. Please call 1-800-444-5445 to enroll.

Yes! For specialty care and your surgical needs, we welcome you at any of our military hospitals and clinics. And don’t forget, you can get most prescriptions filled at any military pharmacy. Check your local military pharmacy to learn more.
