HIPAA Security Officer Appointment Letters

As the Privacy Rule requires, the appointment of a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Officer at the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), Lead Agent and military treatment facility/dental treatment facility (MTF/DTF) levels, the Security Rule also requires an assignment of responsibilities. The Military Health System (MHS) HIPAA Security Integrated Process Team (IPT) and the HIPAA Security Program Officer have finalized Appointment (or Designation) Letters for the HIPAA Security Officers.

Please see the below requests to appoint HIPAA Security Officers:

Service Headquarters

“On October 1, 2013, the Department of Defense established the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to manage the activities of the Military Health System. These activities include those previously managed by TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), which was disestablished on the same date. During the next several months, all TMA websites will change to reflect the new DHA. We appreciate your patience during this transition."
