Costs for Preventive Services

TRICARE Prime Options

Beneficiaries enrolled in a TRICARE Prime Option (except active duty service members using TRICARE Prime) may receive clinical preventive services from their primary care manager or from any network civilian provider without a referral or authorization at no cost. Active duty service members using TRICARE Prime must get preauthorization to visit a civilian provider. TRICARE Prime Options include:

  • TRICARE Prime
  • TRICARE Prime Remote
  • TRICARE Prime Overseas
  • TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas
  • TRICARE Young Adult-Prime Option
  • US Family Health Plan

TRICARE Standard Options

For beneficiaries using a TRICARE Standard Option, there are no cost shares for the following preventive services:

  • Breast cancer screenings
  • Cervical cancer screenings
  • Colorectal cancer screenings
  • Prostate cancer screenings
  • Immunizations
  • Well-child visits for children under age 6

For all other preventive services, cost shares apply, unless performed at the same time as the services listed above. TRICARE Standard Options include:

  • TRICARE Standard and Extra
  • TRICARE Reserve Select
  • TRICARE Retired Reserve
  • TRICARE Standard Overseas
  • TRICARE Young Adult-Standard Option
