Survey of Ill or Injured Service Members Post Operational Deployment

Objective: Per SecDef direction, 14 March 2007, HPA&E is conducting a survey of service members returning from Operational Deployment in an ill or injured status. This survey supports a three-pronged strategy: (1) establish a toll-free hot line; (2) quickly field a telephone survey to service members identified through TRAC2ES aeromedical evacuation data; and (3) follow-up with a more detailed mail survey to include those who were not surveyed via telephone. Information collected in this survey will be used to assess service member attitudes and perceptions regarding outpatient rehabilitative care, other administrative needs and available services and assistance while in Medical Hold, Medical Holdover or Medical Extension status. These data are designed to assess whether existing processes or structures are effective in addressing these patient needs. This information will assist in the formulation of policies to identify and fix concerns related to support services, personnel and medical care.
