Schedule an Appointment

Your rules for scheduling an appointment depend on which health plan you're using. The general rules for each plan are listed below, but you should enter your profile for more specific details.

TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Prime Remote, TRICARE Prime Overseas, TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas and TRICARE Young Adult-Prime

  • Call your primary care manager (PCM) to schedule an appointment.*
  • If your PCM can't provide the care you need, he or she will refer you to a specialist.
  • If you go to a specialist without first seeing your PCM, you're using point-of-service option and will pay more out-of-pocket.

*If you have a military PCM, and you're registered on the TOL Secure Web Portal, you can schedule some appointments online.


  • Schedule an appointment with any TRICARE-authorized provider.
  • If living overseas, you may visit any overseas provider.
  • You can get care at military hosptial or clinics on a space-available basis. 

US Family Health Plan

  • Call your primary care manager (PCM) directly to schedule an appointment.
  • All care is coordinated through your designated provider.
  • You will not typically access care at military hosptial or clinics or other TRICARE-authorized providers.

Includes TRICARE Young Adult-Prime when you select the "US Family Health Plan" as your Prime Option.

TRICARE Standard and Extra, TRICARE Standard Overseas, TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve and TRICARE Young Adult-Standard

  • Schedule an appointment with any TRICARE-authorized provider.
  • Referrals not required.
  • Some services may require prior authorization.
  • You can get care at military hosptial or clinics on a space-available basis.
